SHREVEPORT, La. - Hot, humid and light breeze conditions are expected on Friday. Thus, a Heat Advisory is in effect according to the Shreveport National Weather Service.
An excessive heat warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Saturday for Lincoln, Union, Jackson, Ouachita, Winn, Grant, Caldwell and La Salle parishes with dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 114 expected.
Feels like temperatures could range from 105 to 110 degrees in the shade and in direct sunlight even higher.
Also, forecast highs may exceed 100 degrees in many locations.
In addition, isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible Friday afternoon across portions of deep East Texas and the Toledo Bend country of west Louisiana, before diminishing by sunset.
The strong heat ridge responsible for the searing heat is expected to park over the ArkLaTex for the next few days.
